Visual Computing
Multiple post-doc positions are available in the Immersive Computing Lab (ICL) at the Tandon School of Engineering, New York University in a wide variety of research projects that are signature scopes of our multidisciplinary group. The positions are fully funded with a competitive salary.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 – $90,000.New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
We seek independent, motivated, and creative individuals to conduct fundamental research in the broad areas of virtual and /augmented reality (VR/AR), computer graphics/vision, generative AI, and neural rendering. Candidates will be making contributions to one or more research projects supported by ongoing grants (see ICL: Research). Candidates will be responsible for conducting research in the areas of theoretical and statistical modeling of human visual and multimodal perception/behaviors, generative diffusion models, cloud-based computer graphics, and neural rendering (e.g., neural radiance fields and 3D Gaussian splatting).
The NYU ICL was established by Prof. Qi Sun (Assistant Professor at Tandon School of Engineering). The ICL is home to a highly collaborative, vibrant group of young scholars, with complementary expertise across theory, experiments, and computation. The research from ICL has been recognized as with several best paper and honorable mention awards at ACM SIGGRAPH, IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR, and IEEE VIS.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates are expected to have:
ii) a Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, mathematics, neuroscience, vision science, or related fields;
ii) a demonstrated ability to conduct original research as evidenced by high-quality journal and conference publications;
iii) demonstrated project/laboratory management skills;
iv) the ability to strategize the goals of projects as well as design, conduct, and interpret experiments, under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator;
v) outstanding English language oral and written communication skills;
vi) a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently as well as in a research group; and
viii) the drive to pursue an excellent career in research upon completion of their post-doctoral training.
