Position Overview:

The Senior Manager in the Data Delivery Excellence team will play a crucial role in business development and sales while maintaining a solid technical foundation. This position also includes responsibilities for delivery management, ensuring the successful implementation of data initiatives. The ideal candidate will
have a strong background in data architecture, governance, and agile delivery, with experience in cloud environments like Azure and AWS. Collaboration, innovation, and a deep understanding of best practices are essential to thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Development & Sales:

○ Identify and develop new business opportunities within the data and analytics
domain.
○ Engage with potential clients to understand their needs and propose tailored data solutions.
○ Collaborate with the sales team to drive revenue growth and expand the company’s market presence.

2. Delivery Management:

○ Oversee the delivery of data projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
○ Manage project teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure
successful project outcomes.
○ Implement best practices in delivery management to optimize efficiency and client satisfaction.

3. Experience in Data Architecture:

○ Lead the design and development of scalable data architectures, employing industry best practices.
○ Hands-on experience with data modeling, including Kimball methodologies for structured data and vectorized models for unstructured and IoT streaming data.
○ Architect solutions on cloud platforms, with a preference for Azure, but AWS
experience is also valuable.

4. Experience in Data Governance & Compliance:

○ Implement and maintain data governance frameworks in alignment with DAMA principles.
○ Ensure data compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
○ Develop and manage data quality metrics, policies, and procedures.

5. Experience in DevOps & Agile Integration:

○ Integrate DevOps practices into the data architecture and delivery process to ensure continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of data solutions.
○ Drive agile delivery practices within the Data Delivery Excellence team, ensuring iterative and incremental development of data solutions.
○ Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of data systems.

6. Technical Expertise:

○ Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, transformation, and
automation.
○ Strong understanding of cloud-native data services, particularly within Azure and AWS ecosystems.
○ Ability to integrate data from various sources, including IoT and unstructured data streams.
○ Experience in designing and developing APIs for data integration and management.

7. Leadership & Collaboration:

○ Act as a key partner to the Data Lead, taking ownership of major projects and
leading teams to successful delivery.
○ Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting best practices in data management.
○ Mentor and develop junior team members, ensuring the team’s growth and
continuous improvement.

8. Industry Expertise:

○ Experience in complex data environments such as financial services,
telecommunications, or mining.
○ Familiarity with industry-specific data challenges and solutions.

9. Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

○ Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture, governance, and analytics.
○ Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications:

● Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
● Experience:
○ 8+ years of experience in data architecture, governance, and delivery roles.
○ Proven experience in implementing and managing data governance frameworks, particularly DAMA.
○ Extensive experience in data modeling (Kimball for structured, vectorized for
unstructured, and IoT streaming data).
○ Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS considered).
○ Familiarity with agile methodologies, leading practices in data delivery, and DevOps integration.
○ Experience in business development and sales within the data and analytics
domain.
○ Experience in delivery management, overseeing data projects from inception to completion.

Preferred Attributes:

● Certifications: Relevant certifications in Data Governance (DAMA), Cloud Platforms (Azure/AWS), DevOps, or Agile Delivery.
● Industry Experience: Experience in complex data environments such as financial services, telecommunications, or mining.
● Progression in Roles: Demonstrated career progression with increasing responsibilities.
● Hands-on Developer Background: Preference for candidates who started in hands-on roles such as data engineering, BI development, or business analysis.

Core Responsibilities

·         Provides technical direction, guides the team on key technical aspects and responsible for product tech delivery

·         Lead the Design, Build, Test and Deployment of components

·         Where applicable in collaboration with Lead Developers (Data Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Technical Test Lead)

·         Understand requirements / use case to outline technical scope and lead delivery of technical solution

·         Confirm required developers and skillsets specific to product

·         Provides leadership, direction, peer review and accountability to developers on the product (key responsibility)

·         Works closely with the Product Owner to align on delivery goals and timing

·         Assists Product Owner with prioritizing and managing team backlog

·         Collaborates with Data and Solution architects on key technical decisions

·         The architecture and design to deliver the requirements and functionality

 

Core Experience and Abilities

·         Power Systems engineering experience

·         DER Dispatch experience

·         Automated fault analysis systems experience

·         Ability to perform hands on development and peer review for certain components / tech stack on the product

·         Standing up of development instances and migration path (with required security, access/roles)

·         Develop components and related processes (e.g. data pipelines and associated ETL processes, workflows)

·         Lead implementation of integrated data quality framework

·         Ensures optimal framework design and load testing scope to optimize performance (specifically for Big Data)

·         Supports data scientist with test and validation of models

·         Performs impact analysis and identifies risk to design changes

·         Ability to build new data pipelines, identify existing data gaps and provide automated solutions to deliver analytical capabilities and enriched data to applications
