• Develop highly scalable computer technology, such as algorithms, based on state-of-the-art areas of computer science, such as machine learning and neural network methodologies.
• Combine broad and deep knowledge of relevant software and technology research domains along with the ability to synthesize a wide range of technical requirements to make significant contributions to Meta’s feature roadmap for its cutting edge platforms.
• Adapt Meta technology, such as machine learning and neural network algorithms and architectures, to best exploit modem parallel environments (e.g., distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU).
• Collaborate with Research Scientists to facilitate research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio, and other modalities).
• Research, design and develop new algorithms and techniques to improve the efficiency and performance of Meta’s platforms.
• Identify potential improvements in company’s products and research and present effects of current engineering efforts on Meta’s market standing.
• Apply knowledge of relevant research domains along with expert coding skills to platform and framework development projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Analytics, Physics, or related field and four years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Requires four years of experience in the following:
• 1. Developing and debugging in C, C++, Java, Scala, or Python
• 2. Performing research, developing an experiment, or designing a prototype in machine learning
• 3. Machine learning and optimization
• 4. Building systems based on machine learning or deep learning methods
• 5. Using frameworks like PyTorch, Caffee2, Tensorflow, Theano, Keras, or Chainer
• 6. Storage systems, distributed systems, HPC, compilers, CUDA programming, file systems, or server architectures
• 7. Parallel modem environments (distributed clusters, multicore SMP, or GPU).

The Palo Alto Networks IT department is now a full-fledged engineering organization. Equipped with a full team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and next-generation Data Visualization technologies. Together we are building the ‘Predictive Enterprise’, an infrastructure that will allow Palo Alto Networks the ability to make the best and fastest business decisions based on all data available. The growth of this team includes the addition of a Data Engineer who is tasked with crafting and implementing integrations using state-of-the-art Cloud technologies.

Your Impact

• As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in our Data & Analytics team, tasked with crafting and implementing integrations using state-of-the-art Cloud technologies

Qualifications

Your Experience 

• 10+ years of experience with data and analytics 
• Expert level in writing optimized SQL code
• Advanced proficiency in Python for constructing integrations within GCP DataProc clusters
• Should have worked on the Marketing/Sales domain and built data models eg. Lead Scoring, Contact enrichment, GDPR processes, bookings, pipeline, etc. 
• Able to explain the business process and how analytics supported both strategic & operational requirements
• Experience required in building ETL using data from Big Query
• Familiarity with GCP services, preferably having supported deployments on one or more of GCP services
• Experience in Managing code using Github 
• Should have worked in agile(scrum) development methodology
• Strong development/automation skills
• Working knowledge with Tableau is preferred
• Can-do attitude on solving complex business problems, good interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Must be located within SF Bay area Candidates to be in office 3 days/ week

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $143,500/yr to $233,200/yr.
