MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
• Incident Response
o Understand problems from a user perspective and communicate to clearly 
understand the issue.
o Reproduce bugs or issues that users are facing.

end user.
o Write postmortems summarizing every step of resolution and helping the team

o Monitor flows and infrastructure to identify potential issues.
o Adapt configurations to keep flows and infrastructures working as expected,

• Database Optimization
o Track costs and time of processing through dedicated dashboards.
o Alert people who query tables the wrong way, involving high costs.
o Track down jobs, views, and tables that are running inefficiently and occur 
either high costs or low speed of execution.
o Optimize jobs, queries, and tables to optimize both costs and speed of 
execution.
• Infrastructure Management
o Manage infrastructure through Terraform.
o Share and propose good practices.
o Decommission useless infrastructures such as services, tables, or virtual 
machines.
• Deployments
o Track future deployments with a Data Architect and participate in Deployment 
Reviews.
o Share and propose good practices of deployment.
o Accompany Data Engineers during the entire process of deployments.
o Accompany Data Engineers in the following period of active monitoring.
o Ensure diligent application of deployment process, logging, and monitoring 
strategy.
o Take over newly deployed flows in the run process.
REQUESTED HARD SKILLS
• Google Cloud Platform: General knowledge of the platform and various services, 
and at least one year of experience with GCP.
• Apache Airflow: At least two years of experience with the Airflow orchestrator, 
experience with Google Composer is a plus.
• Google BigQuery: Extensive experience (at least 4 years) with GBQ, know how to 
optimize tables and queries, and able to design database architecture.
• Terraform: At least two years of experience with Terraform, and know good 
practices of GitOps.
• Apache Spark: this is an optional expertise we would value. Some of our pipelines 
use pySpark. 
• Additional Knowledge and Experience that are a Plus:
o Pub/Sub
o Kafka
o Azure Analysis Services
o Google Cloud Storage optimizatio

What We Do 

Max is the “One to Watch” Streaming App from Warner Bros Discovery featuring the largest and the critically acclaimed catalog from brands like HBO, CNN, Discovery, A24, Food Network and many more. At Max, the Growth Engineering team comprises ML engineers, data scientists, and software engineers. Our goal is to boost engagement and grow the number of active subscribers. We work across all customer interactions to develop data products that enhance the customer experience and optimize for retention and lifetime value. 

What You’ll Do 

·       You will be a key influencer the Growth ML & Data Science strategy and contribute significantly to both tactical and strategic planning.  

·       You will own stakeholder relationships and meetings with leads in Marketing, Content Strategy & Finance  

·       Research and build high-impact end-to-end machine learning systems for customer growth 

·       Drive the design of scalable ML solutions in production   

·       Coordinate the work of applied scientists and machine learning engineers providing research guidance and mentorship 

·       Promote and role-model best practices of data science, engineering, and communication throughout the organization 

·       Mentor engineers and data scientists across the org 

·       Navigate existing ML and AI research and apply it to solve business problems 

·       Contribute back to research community by writing/publishing blogs, articles or papers in conferences 

What You’ll Need 

·       Ph.D or M.S. in Computer Science/Statistics/Data Science or related field 

·       10+ years of building products with Machine Learning and Personalization 

·       Deep understanding of statistics and ML and AI fundamentals 

·       Deep knowledge in multiple ML methodologies, such as LLMs, Foundation Models, Recommendations & Search, Causal Machine Learning, Interpretable ML, Multi-Armed Bandits, Reinforcement Learning and Constrained Optimization 

·       Expert proficiency with ML-frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-learn etc. 

·       Production experience implementing, maintaining, and improving machine learning pipelines and models at scale in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages 

·       Proven leadership skills, such as aligning complex technical decisions across teams, mentoring, coordinating cross-functional relationships with non-technical stakeholders, managing expectations, and navigating competing priorities 

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to scientists, engineers, and product audiences 

·       Self-motivated, growth-oriented, and driven to pursue excellence across teams

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $145,250.00 – $269,750.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
