Our challenge

We are seeking a Data modeler specializing in Data Modelling, Erwin, metadata, data management, taxonomy, ontologies, and semantic technologies.

Additional Information* 

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Richmond VA, Charlotte NC, Kennesaw GA, New Jersey NJ, TX is $110k – $120k/year & benefits (see below). 

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with variety of internal teams (e.g., Finance, Risk, Asset Management, etc.) to drive strategic data management priorities through metadata.

  • Manage the collection and governance of business, technical and operational metadata.

  • Drive various other metadata management activities, including but not limited to, lineage discovery, metadata creation, metadata change management and reporting.

  • Develop logical metadata models (e.g., metadata asset model, semantic relationships) to represent business and technical metadata (e.g., reporting hierarchy, physical data elements, logical data elements, data quality controls)

Requirements:

You are:

  • Having strong understanding of business processes within a large financial institution.

  • Familiar with taxonomy, ontologies, and semantic modelling.

  • Have conceptual and logical business data modeling experience across domains (i.e., customer, account, risk, etc.) 

  • Deep understanding and experience with technical, operational, and business metadata. 

  • Ability to derive and communicate value (business case) from metadata management.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software, specifically metadata management tooling.

About the Digital Products in scope

Patient Collect is a tool developed in house to capture monthly patient counts for different patient categories, diseases, products across 50+ countries​. The data collected is leveraged across the organization for forecasting and analytics.

Global Insights is the reporting/advanced analytics platform for Global Specialty Care business operations, forecasting, analytics and marketing​. It consolidates Specialty Care commercial sources from different data foundations and Vendor provided data sources.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers and visualization engineers, provide guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure successful product delivery
  • Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analysing large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata to support analytics and reporting needs
  • Utilize cloud technologies, particularly Snowflake, AWS and Azure, to build and manage data infrastructure in a scalable and cost-effective manner
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of ETL processes using tools such as Informatica, IICS, and custom Python scripts
  • Drive the adoption and utilization of BI and analytics tools such as PowerBI, Dataiku for data visualization and reporting
  • Act as a relay product owner for data engineering and visual analytics initiatives, defining and prioritizing requirements, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals

About you

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills related to data, analytics, and technology solutions
  • Service-oriented, flexible, and approachable team player
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and solutions to peers and effectively lead and manage a team
  • Adherence to architectural principles, design patterns, and coding standards
  • Ability to drive the implementation of DevOps practices and automation to streamline the development and deployment processes
  • Experience working in Agile environments with a deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and product owner skills

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, data warehousing, business intelligence, business analytics, or comparable role with relevant technologies (ETL/ELT) and tools (Informatica/IICS, AWS, Snowflake and PowerBI a plus)
  • Proven experience of 2+ years in a data engineering lead/manager role with expertise in data engineering, relational databases, data modeling, advanced analytics, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects, from planning to successful implementation
  • Strong proficiency in Snowflake, AWS (particularly S3, Redshift, and EC2), and other cloud-based data technologies
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, IICS, and scripting languages like Python for data manipulation and transformation
  • Familiarity with BI and analytics tools, especially PowerBI, Dataiku, Tableau for data visualization and advanced analytics
  • Experience designing and implementing real-time data streaming solutions using tools like Kafka for efficient data processing
  • Experience managing job scheduling and orchestration using Control-M to ensure timely execution of data workflows
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages (SQL, Python, Java Script, Shell scripting), databases technologies/concepts
