Sr. Specialist, Research Automation Systems Integrator in RaDS IT 

RaDS IT Research Infrastructure Product Line (RIPL) engineering team is seeking a Senior Specialist – Research Automation Systems Integrator. This position will be a member of the Research Automation Operations product (Laboratory and Plant) within RIPL.  As systems integrator, you will lead the definition and implementation of high-level requirements, principles and models that guide solution decisions and provide the “blueprint” for engineering / project teams to implement these solutions.  You will focus on analyzing, designing, and developing solutions and implementation plans based on a current versus future state solution and reference architectures that aligns to business needs.  Your software experience in screening data automation, plant automation and system integration will contribute to building new platforms, enhancing existing ones for expansion, efficiency and productivity across drug discovery modalities and clinical phases. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary organizations in our Research & Development Division and IT, including scientists, engineers, IT architects, infrastructure, quality, vendors in building, optimizing, and troubleshooting the automation systems.

The primary location is West Point, PA or Rahway, NJ and the role will provide support services to other sites.

Job Description

  • Defines the software modules needed for an integration build and produces a build definition for each generation of the software. Accepts completed software modules, ensuring that they meet defined criteria. Produces software builds from software source code for loading onto target hardware. Configures the hardware and software environment as required by the system being integrated. Produces integration test specifications, conducts tests and records and reports on outcomes. Diagnoses faults and records and reports on the results of tests. Produces system integration reports.

  • Follows standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for simple systems or system components. Identifies and resolves minor design issues. Identifies alternative design options and seeks guidance when deviating from established design patterns.

  • Undertakes complete design of moderately complex software applications or components. Applies agreed standards, guidelines, patterns and tools. Assists as part of a team in the design of components of larger software systems. Specifies user and/or system interfaces. Creates multiple design views to address the different stakeholders’ concerns and to handle functional and non-functional requirements. Assists in the evaluation of options and trade-offs. Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

  • Contributes to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Determines and documents architecturally significant decisions. Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products. Supports projects or change initiatives through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles. Aligns solutions with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security).

  • Conduct architecture evaluations and collaborate with delivery squads to develop solution architectures that fit the business needs

  • Define and implement integrations to systems and solutions that meet business requirements

  • Design and develop automated laboratory workflows, including sample preparation, assay execution on high throughput robotic screening platforms

  • Collaborate with our Research & Development Division scientists and engineers to identify automation needs and define project requirements.

  • Collaborate with instrument vendors and suppliers to evaluate and implement new laboratory automation and robotics technologies.

  • Program, integrate, and maintain laboratory automation equipment, such as liquid handling robots, robotic arms, and high-throughput screening systems

  • Previous experience in integrating robotic automation platforms such as Momentum, GreenButtonGo, Cellario, etc with Enterprise LIMs and Sample Management platforms.

  • Proficient in modern object-oriented programming languages such as LabView, C#, Java, Oracle/SQL Server, Python, including real-time data automation, and GUI design.

  • Effectively troubleshoot the systems, including not only the software but other aspects such as the hosting servers and computers, instrument drivers such detectors, liquid handlers, centrifuge, etc. ensuring minimal disruption to research activities

  • Test software prototypes and/or production systems according to safety, environment, electrical, software and essential performance specifications. 

  • Document protocols, procedures, and system configurations for future reference and regulatory compliance.

  • Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines and promote a culture of safety among team members.

  • Ensure timely IT support in the joint investigation, diagnostics, and resolutions with the our Research & Development Division scientists and engineers and interface with site and global functions such as infrastructure, engineering, system security, risk management, etc.

  • Manage implementation and upgrade of software in support of maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory automation systems, improving operational efficiencies, reliability, operability, and maintainability.

  • Communicate with all stakeholders, including internal and external developers, end-users, product line/product owners and architects. Update stakeholders on the status of product development processes.

  • Evaluate project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform process re-engineering if required. Find resolution to technical issues as they arise.

  • Leverage industry standard frameworks and current knowledge of the industry trends to advise on leading architecture practices

  • Analyze industry, technology, and market trends to determine their potential impact on delivery roadmaps

  • Analyze the current solution architecture to detect critical deficiencies and recommend actions/steps for improvement

  • Advise and deliver value-added IT services and infrastructure solutions while ensuring strategies to adapt to technological advancements.

  • Lead/assist creating robust testing strategies and execution in compliance with the required quality regulations for IT-related scope.

  • Good understanding of all phases of SDLC (to enable rapid adoption of company SDLC processes).

Education Requirement: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in automation, engineering, computer science, or computer engineering related degree.

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • 5 years’ hands-on software development and operations in the pharmaceutical High Throughput Screening (HTS) automation, interfacing with research scientists, robotic engineers, safety, and quality personnel.

  • 4 years’ experience with commercial laboratory robotics scheduler software such as Momentum, GreenButtonGo, Cellario, etc

  • 4 year’s hands-on experience programming robotic arms, laboratory instrument using LabView, C#, Java, Oracle and/or SQL server database in direct support of high throughput screening.

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Hyper-V, VMware workstation, Delta-V, Pi, Pi Historian, SCADA computer system backup and archival, data retention

  • Familiar with networking, switches, vlans, subnets, firewalls, Windows active directory in virtual and physical environments.

  • Experienced problem solver/troubleshooter, skilled in root cause analysis.

  • Multi-tasker with ability to lead multiple IT and automation projects.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • 4 years’ experience with sample management systems and operations, such as Titian Mosaic, Screenwork, BioInventory, FreezerPro, etc. Have experience developing integration APIs with other laboratory systems.

Philips IGT-D business is the world-leader in intravascular imaging (IVI) products, primarily through its line of Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) catheters and Flow Measurement (FM) guidewires. Artificial Intelligence applied to this data represents a significant opportunity for business, and more importantly for the physicians and patients that benefit from IVI. The person filling this role will be a principal contributor to the data services organization responsible for the data curation chain for these products.

The ideal candidate for this role has a strong understanding of the tools and best practices in the curation of images for AI. This person is expected to be a hands-on, learn-by-doing subject matter expert. They must also be an innovative problem-solver, bringing new thinking and new solutions to our team. This person will work closely with other data solution architect(s) in the team and help provide direction to full stack developer(s) supporting our group.

Your role:

  • Identify, document, and evaluate requirements for image analysis, as well as other data types as assigned.

  • Evaluate, diagnosis, and recommend improvements (or replacements) for existing data pipelines; this could include changes to tools, processes, and personnel.

  • Continuously scout and evaluate available and emerging tools for image analysis and computer vision, including generative AI, auto-annotation, synthetic data generation, and tools we haven’t even thought about yet.

  • Ensure that data, environments, and tools power up our R&D work, and cycle feedback from R&D into the stack.

  • Becomes our team’s expert in the proprietary signals and processing from our coolest products, especially for the toolchain translating these data into algorithms.

You’re the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline plus at least 3 years of experience (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science), or equivalent work experience of 5+ years in a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience with MLOps for AI of images, including tool selection, pipeline development, and quality controls.

  • Must have experience with full stack development in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure), including proficiency with Python, SQL dialects, and XXX.

  • Prior experience and/or graduate coursework with computer vision algorithm development.

  • Extensive R&D background in medical imaging, including image annotation and pipeline utilization.

  • Proficient in managing data governance processes, including access management, data provenance, and experience with MLOps solutions like Dataiku, DataRobot, etc. Also, skilled in engineering within highly regulated environments (e.g., medical devices, transportation, defense).

Sr Software Engineer – (Performance Design) at Blue Yonder – Bengaluru


Scope:

  • Responsible for creating performance load testing scripts in JMeter, Gatling, Taurus, Blazemeter, Fitnesse and/or Selenium.

  • Provide technical support to the implementation teams; this includes best practice design, environment setup and configuration.

  • Troubleshoot escalated production issues to assist the Consulting, Cloud and Support Teams in a timely manner.

We are looking for experienced and motivated individuals who will be a part of the Responsible AI Centre of Excellence (COE) within Accenture to join our multi-disciplinary Responsible AI team. We are committed to help people build AI products/solutions/services in a responsible and trustworthy manner.

The ideal candidate should have a strong client-facing consulting background in data science/analytics with an ability to pick up new technologies very quickly. He/she will be passionate about understanding the impact of AI systems on people and society and will have a track record in using tools to undertake assessments such as Fairness/Bias, Explainability, Model Validation and Robustness, to assess model behaviour through a Responsibility lens.

Responsibilities:

As a client-facing in Responsible AI, you will consult with Accenture’s clients on how to design & develop reliable, effective user-centered AI systems in adherence to general best practices for software systems, together with practices that address responsibility considerations unique to AI & machine learning.  You will also be expected to contribute to research on how AI systems can be designed holistically with fairness, interpretability, privacy, security, safety, and robustness built in by design. 

As part of our team, you will:

  • Be a subject matter expert on technical aspects of Responsible AI & Data 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop best practices, frameworks, tools for scalable implementation of Responsible AI in enterprises
  • Conduct research on Responsible AI – policies, principles, issues, risk identification, risk remediation, regulatory requirements, latest trends etc.
  • Bring a strong conceptual understanding of Responsible AI, principles & tools with experience of using these tools in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders/clients
  • Evaluate and implement technical best practices and tools for fairness, explainability, transparency, accountability, and other relevant aspects of Responsible AI
  • Develop a clear understanding of client’s business issues to adopt the best approach to implement the Responsible AI Framework
  • Establish a consistent and collaborative presence by partnering with clients to understand the wider business goals, objectives & competitive constraints
  • Provide thought leadership by publishing in public forums/conferences/blogs on Responsible AI products, research or developments
  • Leading diverse and well-qualified RAI team.

Skillset Requirements:

  • Education: – PhD / Masters / Bachelor’s degree in Statistics / Economics / Mathematics /Computer Science / Physics or related disciplines from Premier Colleges in India or Abroad. Specialization in Data Science.

Must Have

  • 7+ years of Hands-on Data science experience in solving real life complex business problems
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in enhancing AI systems to meet Responsible AI principles – Explainability, Fairness, Accountability, etc.
  • Passionate about understanding the impact of AI systems on people and society
  • Hands-on experience of using techniques such as data bias testing (e.g. for under-represented groups, proxy variables, recall bias, skew etc), Explainability (e.g. SHAP values, LIME), sensitivity testing, repeatability and similar to understand model limitations.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing reports that summarize analysis / assessments into simple and concise actionable points
  • Strong conceptual knowledge and practical experience in the Development, Validation, and Deployment of ML/AL models such as:
  • Supervised Learning – regression, classification techniques
  • Unsupervised Learning – clustering techniques
  • Recommender Systems
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Deep Learning – Sequence models (RNN, GRU, LSTM etc.), CNN, GAN etc
  • Econometric models
  • Exploratory Data analysis, Hypothesis testing etc.
  • Comfortable in ingestion of technical whitepapers, legal policies, government regulations etc. in relation into Responsible AI and work with Academic partners to convert them into practice
  • Ability to learn and develop new methods, strategies and frameworks to proactively identify potential loopholes.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, believe in first principles and have the skill to transform broad ideas into action plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly communicate ideas and results to both technical and non-technical business audience, such as senior leaders
  • Good  time management skills to manage day-to-day work progress and ensure timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently across multiple projects and set priorities and Strong analytical bent of mind.

Good to have

  • Cloud Certifications (Azure / AWS / GCP)
  • Knowledge of AWS SageMaker Clarify / Azure Responsible ML and Fairlearn SDK / GCP AI Explanations
  • Experience in Chatbot Analytics, Web Crawling
  • Experience in MLOps tools like MLflow or Kubeflow
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, vulnerability assessment, risk remediation etc.
