What you will be doing:

  • Join the Developer Tools team to work on software such as Nsight Systems.

  • Work with a wide variety of hardware platforms, ranging from small embedded systems, to large multi-GPU and NUMA servers and clusters.

  • Be the communicator between our Nsight Systems team, various chip and system design teams, and the metrics library team.

  • Work with internal and external users to understand their software and performance goals, and use that knowledge to influence future chip design.

  • Communicate across multiple teams to collect and understand the requirements.  Understand how the underlying hardware and software works, and use that knowledge to deliver valuable features to the users.  Participate in all phases of the software life cycle.

  • Collaborate with team members across multiple time zones in a dynamic, high-energy work environment.

  • Interact with internal and external users, help them get the maximum value out of our products, and deliver their feedback to the product team.

What we need to see:

  • Excellent problem solving, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong C++ knowledge.

  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.

  • Good understanding of CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture, experience working with chip design teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to track large amounts of information across long periods of time, ability to explain complex concepts in clear and concise language.

  • BS or MS in EE, CE, CS, Systems Engineering and 5+ years of experience in a related software position.

As a Data Wrangler, you will specialise in optimising the performance and seamless movement of large data volumes using specialist tooling. You will be responsible for curating and transforming datasets, generating key statistics, and deriving new datasets tailored for diverse audiences.

This role will also include managing data workflows, developing and maintaining data pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, and ensuring data integrity. Additionally, you will explore new technologies and contribute to knowledge sharing across the Data Chapter. 

This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and build data solutions that deliver the business needs and requirements across clinical and research domains 
  • Extract transform and load data to support research and clinical practices
  • Generation and derivation of statistics and data visualisations to support data driven decision making  
  • Codifying repeatable data processes, increasing productivity and efficiencies and supporting the standards for data usage throughout Genomics England

Job Description

We are looking to hire a Lead Genomic Data Scientist to join our Bioinformatics Consulting team at Genomics England and lead on a range of cancer genome analysis and interpretation projects in collaboration with and on behalf of our external researchers and industrial partners.   

The role of the Lead involves a harmonious blend of technical leadership and people management, with a primary focus on enhancing customized cancer genome analysis within our research environment. 

Drawing upon a robust understanding of biomedical challenges and a commitment to producing high-quality code, the Lead Genomic Data Scientist plays a direct and influential role in crafting solutions and products. These outcomes are specifically designed to cater to the distinct requirements of our researchers and industrial collaborators, thereby contributing significantly to the advancement of our objectives. 

Everyday responsibilities include:  

  • Proving technical and scientific leadership role in the realms of cancer genome analysis.  
  • Actively contributing to the development, implementation, and continual enhancement of best practices for genome analysis at Genomics England. 
  • Spearheading end-to-end complex genomic analysis projects, involving aspects such as design, stakeholder engagement, code development, problem-solving, reaching conclusions, and documentation.  
  • Conducting benchmarking exercises and enhancements for tools used in processing, analysis, and interpretation of whole genome data, encompassing alignment, variant calling, annotation, variant prioritization, interpretation, and quality control.  
  • Ensuring the adherence to high standards of relevance, excellence, and clinical safety in genomic analysis, aligning with Genomics England accreditation requirements.  
  • Collaborating seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the successful delivery of projects.  
  • Employing and critically evaluating statistical genetics analysis methods to derive insights from large-scale genomic data. 
  • Taking charge of managing and leading an inclusive, high-performing team, ensuring the presence of the right skills to fulfil our mission. 

Skills and Experience for Success:

  • In-depth expertise in cancer genomics, understanding tumor drivers, and interpreting genomic data through targeted pathways. 
  • Proficient in utilizing Python for efficient data processing and analysis.  
  • Hands-on experience in developing high-quality and reusable code, with a strong command of Git and CI/CD practices.  
  • The capacity to thoughtfully evaluate statistical and/or machine learning techniques, and proficiently apply them in practical scenarios while interpreting results, considering the assumptions and limitations inherent in the methods. 
  • Experience in leading a cross-functional analytical team in academic or industry environment. 

Qualifications

PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in an industry settings.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Learn and understand the switch u/architecture thoroughly across all aspects and become a source of information for the design and verification engineers.

  • Define the implementation of the most sophisticated features of our next products, balancing architecture requirements with backend, execution, and design considerations.

  • Understand our system requirement and help define the POR of our switch product line.

  • Face the most challenging Full-Chip correctness and performance issues, which cannot be handled by the units’ designers as they require full cross-unit understanding of the chip.

  • Work closely with board and package design to understand the different design limitations: power, di/dt, temperature, signal-integrity etc.

  • Thoroughly understand Ethernet, InfiniBand and NvLink protocols.

  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • More than 7+ years of experience in ASIC design

  • At least 4 years of hands on experience in writing Verilog/VHDL

Position Overview:

The Technical Services Associate plays a pivotal role in implementing the technical aspects of our client’s installation and supporting internal and external technical issues.
