As a Senior Software Engineer at Freeform, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining critical software systems for our autonomous 3D printing factories, which includes controls, data acquisition/storage systems, and input geometry processing pipelines. Ultimately, your solutions will enable the first production scale, high quality, and fully automated metal 3D printing factory capabilities. As a crucial member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the pace of innovation, maximizing development speed, and maintaining a standard of excellence within the entire engineering team.

3D printing experience is not required to be successful here – rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology!

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop software for an advanced, production-scale metal 3D printing system
  • Work with process, control, and mechanical engineers to integrate control algorithms into production software
  • Improve and scale out high-rate data acquisition, storage, and retrieval systems
  • Implement processes for converting customer part geometries into machine print instructions
  • Expand testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment support throughout the software engineering team

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development
  • Proficiency in writing production code in C++
  • Experience with modern continuous integration and continuous deployment tools
  • Experience working in a Linux environment

Nice to Have: 

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or computer engineering
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience interfacing with microcontrollers or FPGA computing hardware

Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities and safely deploy such a robotaxi solution.  Zoox’s System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team is responsible for constructing the safety case for each milestone. We play a foundational role for the success of the company. 
As a systems engineer at Zoox, you will be working with members of the system safety, hardware and software development teams to design, develop, and deploy systems that enable and support autonomous driving. You are responsible for ensuring these systems are developed within a process that results in end-to- end traceability and achievement of both system safety targets and product requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop quantitative and qualitative functional safety analyses including HARAs, FTAs, FMEAs, and/or FMEDAs.
  • Develop functional safety and technical safety concepts for HMI systems (screens, interior/exterior audio),thermal systems and other vehicle platform systems.
  • Collaborate with internal hardware/software engineers and/or 3rd party suppliers to ensure system requirements and desired functionality is achieved.

  • Develop end-to-end post-silicon tests and tools for functional and performance scenarios of the system. 
  • Collaborate across organizations with AI Frameworks SW, Silicon & System Validation, Architecture and Firmware. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

  • BS. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar. 
  • 8+ years’ experience in software development with C++ 
  • 6+ years’ experience in post-silicon SoC or system validation or diagnostic/stress test content development. 
  • Experience with one or more of these: DMAs, PCIe, Memory (DDR, HBM), Network Controllers, Image decoders. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in build systems such as CMake and familiarity with CI/CD systems. 
  • Knowledge of power and thermal profiling, TDP/PnP, and PVT characterization. 
  • Knowledge of or experience with AI models/kernels such as GPT, Gemm or Codex.  
  • Experience with Cuda or GPU or tensor-based programming is a plus+ 
  • Ability to work closely with diverse customers, from understanding their needs to resolving their problems.
