As a Process improvement Specialist, you will design, implement, and maintain systems which collect and analyze data to identify the process improvement. You will analyze Amazon shopping process to reduce or eliminate carbon emission through Gemba walks, dashboards, databases, and other platforms that allow for efficient data collection and evaluation. You will closely with Sustainability PM, BU team, Customer Fulfillment, and other stakeholder to gain an understanding of Carbon reduction goals and objectives to ensure the systems and their capabilities improvement. You will work with Rest of World and World-wide Ops Sustainability Analytic Team closely. Your responsibilities include conducting end-to-end analytics at the intersection of various advanced Amazon systems, visualize what the opportunities of networking efficiency improvement and how we serve our customers the best Sustainable products and operation in Japan. Your curious mind will dive deep into complex systems, and create analytical tools that drive ever-greater scalability and optimization of process from the first mile to last mile, reducing cost and delivering speed of execution while carbon emission is minimized to thrill our customers.
To be successful in this role, you need to pair strong analytical skills, a data-driven outlook with great communication skills, ability to deal with ambiguity in the constantly changing/fast paced environment, able to prepare and give detailed data-driven business reviews to senior management, have clear and effective narratives and present them effectively to Directors and VPs.

Key job responsibilities
• Works across team(s) and Ops organization cross regional level to drive carbon intensity reduction and enablers to implement carbon reduction solutions for customer experiences, cost savings in process workflow, systems configuration and performance metrics.
• Work closely with business managers and stakeholders to understand business issues and recommend solutions to ensure business questions are properly answered
• Leads projects on carbon reduction across the Operations (FCs, Sortation, logistic centers, Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering …) that are business critical, and may be global in nature.
• Build reports and Tableau/QuickSight dashboard to present forecast model results to stakeholders and track forecast performance metrics (both technical and business metrics)
• Researching, prototyping and developing scalable alarms, task and process automation using scripting language (Python) and dashboard tools.
• Optimize and organize data pipelines into the visualization environment
• Contribute to data design, data modeling and data extracts/transforms with Business Intelligent Engineers.
• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions

The mission of Ops Sustainability is to delight customers on sustainable operation by new technologies and innovations that reduce waste, and carbon emissions associated with end-to-end operation operations and third-party partners.
Basic Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, related technical field, or equivalent work experience
– 3+ years of relevant work experience in analytics, data engineering, business intelligence or related field, and 3+ years professional experience
– Experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
– Project management and organizational skills, experience working on complex initiatives with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
– Process improvement experience
– Detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environments
– Experience in data visualization software (Tableau/Quick sight) or open-source project
– Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
– Fluent Japanese and Business English
Preferred Qualifications
– Proven analytical and quantitative skills including advanced statistical analysis and forecasting experience
– Strong project planning skills and cross-team leadership experience
– Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Java, etc)
– Master’s or higher degree in an analytical area such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering.
