Work environment

Participate in the transformation to electromobility at Volkswagen Kassel. Become part of the development team in the field of electric drives. We are working together on the next generation of electric drives and need your support in simulation. As part of an interdisciplinary team of simulation, testing, data scientists and design engineers, you will help to improve the virtual design process of electric drives.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Preparation of manufacturing tolerances and expansion of existing multi-body simulation models of electric drivetrains
  • Definition of parameter spaces and identification of useful variants
  • Optimization of the models with regard to computing time
  • Recognizing correlations between the applied parameter space and results as well as pattern recognition with the help of AI methods
  • Deriving suggestions for determining permissible tolerances in order to avoid acoustic phenomena or comply with limit curves

The final doctoral topic is defined together with the professor (f/m/d). The prerequisite for the cooperation is the confirmation of supervision as well as a confirmed delimitation of topics by the professor (f/m/d) of a university or research institution entitled to confer a doctorate.

Qualification requirements

  • Good to very good university degree with eligibility for a doctorate in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, automotive engineering, technomathematics, physics or comparable courses
  • Knowledge of and interest in virtual development, artificial intelligence, dynamics and multi-body simulation
  • Very good knowledge of Matlab and Python
  • You have business-fluent knowledge of German and English (B2)
  • Your personal strengths include an analytical, solution-oriented and structured way of working

What we offer

  • Attractive salary & 30 vacation days (+ 24.12. and 31.12. off)
  • 35-hour week, flexible working hours, remote work
  • Special conditions for the purchase and leasing of vehicles
  • Free seminars on scientific work and interdisciplinary qualifications
  • Participation in the doctoral network for scientific exchange with science representatives and other doctoral candidates within the Volkswagen Group
  • subsequent possibility of permanent employment
